Z’s PiCade Mini
*Detailed information can be found below the videos and pictures*
Here is the long awaited demonstration of some games running on it, though they differ from the ones that I stated down below that I tested (not in full entirety). Enjoy!
Materials used: iCade Arcade Cabinet, Zero Delay USB Encoder (JAMMA to USB), Secondary screen to portable dvd player (equipped with 3.5mm A/V jack input), HDMI to RCA adapter (needs power via USB), Raspberry Pi 2 (any can be used, Pi 3 is best), 5 volt AC adapter for Screen, wood filer, soldering iron, Power Strip/Surge Protector, and adhesive Velcro.
Total Cost: Roughly $42
Games Tested (separate video than above): Metal Slug, Marvel VS Capcom, X-men VS Street Fighter, Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Figther III: 3rd Strike, Garou: The Mark of the Wolves, Final Fight, Battletoads (Arcade version), Pac-man, and Galaga. No delay, no response issues, best played on a desktop where you can sit comfortably or if standing needs to be elevated enough to where the player can see it and play comfortably.
Pros: Very portable, full customization options, can use with any Raspberry Pi or mini desktop computer, nice clean and sleek design, space aware size. iCade Arcade saves you the trouble of having to order wood (and cut it out) plus the joysticks and buttons are included, Portable DVD screen has built in audio (mono only, but alas it has audio), and low power consumption.
Cons: A little more trouble than its worth due to- internal space constraints, the need to file down some of the innards to allow USB encoder and new wiring to fit when closing the unit for assembly, using a 5 to 7 inch IPS HD screen would’ve allowed better visuals and omitted the need of HDMI to RCA cable but would’ve costed more, and changing out the buttons would be desirable due to the default/provided ones being very loud when clicking compared to other types.
